Three foreign nationals from India, Malaysia and Macedonia were kidnapped and later killed by unknown gunmen in Kabul. The Malaysian national is said to be 64, the Indian 39, and the Macedonian 37. The three were employed as cooks for Sodexo, a France-based food services company. They were intercepted and kidnapped while being driven to the airport by a local working for their company. Their bodies were later found in Kabul’s Mussahi district. No group claimed responsibility for the incident. Kidnapping by militants or criminals gangs seeking a ransom has been rife in Afghanistan in recent years. Locals are most often the targets, but foreigners have also been seized. (bbc.com, 2 August 2018)
