Twenty two people were killed and 59 wounded in a suicide bombing attack at the main foyer of the Manchester Arena where U.S. singer Ariana Grande had been performing. The attack took place at 10:33 p.m. local time, as parents were waiting to pick up their children following the concert. At the time of the attack, about 20,000 people--mostly teenagers--where at the arena, one of the UK's largest such venues. The bomber was identified as 22-year-old Salman Abedi, a British national of Libyan origin. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack via the messaging app Telegram. The attack was the second deadliest in the UK, after the July 2005 coordinated suicide bombings in London.
