At around 8:15 a.m. local time, a homemade IED partly exploded on the District Line underground train at Parsons Green station in the southwest London. At least 22 people were lightly injured as result of the blast and a stampede that ensued as hundreds of people rushed to get away from the station. Authorities are treating the blast as a terrorist incident, the fifth in Britain this year. Police is searching for the suspect who left the device in a white bucket commonly used by painters. The bombing resulted in delays to the District Line between Earls Court and Wimbledon as passengers on trains en route to the station were evacuated. Hours later, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the failed bombing.
